A special focus is the cultural history of the USA and Canada. In addition, the staff of the professorship also deals with European contemporary history since 1945 and with the global history of protest and peace movements during the Cold War. There are currently research projets on the nuclear crisis in the 1970s and 1980s, on America in Augsburg, on network processes of transatlantic elites, on global anti-Americanism and on the history of the Federal Republic of Germany.
