The WHO Global report on health equity for persons with disabilities demonstrates that persons with disabilities experience health inequities due to health system barriers amongst other factors. Strengthening health workforce is one strategic entry point into health systems. Therefore, WHO jointly with the Chair of Inclusive Health Care at the University Hospital and University of Augsburg develops Global Competency Standards to support a competency-based outcomes approach to education and training of health workers on disability inclusion. This Webinar, co-hosted by WHO and the Chair of Inclusive Health Care, will introduce the background and development process of these Global Competency Standards. It will take place on Monday, October 28th at 1 pm.

With recent medical, technological, and socioeconomic developments, people are living longer. The rising average age of the world's population presents an opportunity to develop health policy that prioritizes functioning as a goal of healthy aging. In February 2024, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convened a hybrid workshop at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland to host a discussion focused on the World Health Organization's concept of functioning.
